Dr. John Frasca, MD

John Frasca, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon with a strong primary sub-specialty in venous disease. He has been caring for patients with peripheral vascular disease for over three decades. Dr. Frasca’s experience as a general and vascular surgeon has allowed him to treat a wide range of vascular conditions, from varicose veins and spider veins to venous ulcerations.

As a New England native and long-time Massachusetts resident, Dr. Frasca genuinely cares about helping the people in his community.

A Dream of Doing Something Meaningful

In his youth, Dr. Frasca and his dad did a lot of home projects together, from working on cars to woodworking crafts. Dr. Frasca became quite dexterous and developed a love for working with his hands. He also knew from a young age that he wanted to make a difference in the world. He decided to go to medical school and follow in similar footsteps as his father, who was in the medical field as a hospital corpsman in the Navy.

“I’ve always been interested in helping people and doing something meaningful with my life. Medicine allowed me to achieve that goal while also fulfilling my dream of working with my hands.”

Medical Education and Training Led to an Interest in Vascular Care

Dr. Frasca graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and went on to complete a general surgery internship and residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton. During his training, Dr. Frasca was exposed to a great deal of vascular surgeries, and he became increasingly interested in treating venous diseases as his career evolved.

Starting His Private Practice for Vascular Treatment

After completing his residency at St. Elizabeth’s, Dr. Frasca continued working there for a year and then started his own private practice for general and vascular surgery in the nearby town of Walpole. He realized how much he enjoyed providing life-changing results for his vascular patients and decided to create a full-service vein treatment center focused on addressing all types of venous insufficiencies.

Specialty Vein Care in Norfolk

Dr. Frasca opened Specialty Vein Care in Norfolk, MA, in 2011. At this center, he offers a wide variety of vein treatment options, from sclerotherapy and phlebectomy to radiofrequency endovenous ablation and adhesive ablation. What Dr. Frasca finds most rewarding about working in the field of vascular disease is seeing the difference these treatments make in the quality of life for his patients. Many of his female patients who’ve had varicose veins and spider veins removed thank him for giving them their legs back and are ecstatic about the confidence they finally have to wear shorts and dresses.

Dedicated to Individualized Care

When it comes to vascular disease and venous insufficiency, there’s not a one-size-fits-all solution for every patient. Dr. Frasca prides himself on providing care that is customized to the individual patient. He takes his time with each patient, listening to them and evaluating their goals so he can develop a treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and preferences.

Prioritizing Patient Education

Dr. Frasca also concentrates on providing patient education. During consultations, he spends a lot of time explaining how the vascular system works and how relevant vascular diseases can develop and affect the body. Dr. Frasca educates his patients about their treatment options and involves them in the decision-making process so they can help make the right choice for their vein treatment.

“I believe that individualized care and patient education are vital to successful treatments and happy patients. A cookie-cutter approach doesn’t work for vascular care, and patients are much more satisfied when they understand what’s going on and are involved in making decisions about their care.”

An IAC-Accredited Vein Center

Specialty Vein Care is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). The IAC is a nationally recognized organization for the accreditation of medical centers that was founded with the goals of improving patient safety and support. As an IAC-accredited center, Specialty Vein Care meets the high standards and guidelines for quality of care with intervention-based procedures and diagnostic imaging for treating vascular disease.

A Welcoming Environment

Dr. Frasca chose the location of his state-of-the-art vein center for its morning and afternoon sun, so patients enjoy a bright and airy atmosphere when they visit. The office is decorated with a warm, inviting ambiance, and the personable staff members make every effort to provide patients with a comfortable, pleasant experience.
